Welcome to Sussex 4x4 Response
Membership of Sussex 4x4 Response is unfortunately not free. We ask for a £5 donation on joining to help cover some of the cost of providing responders with a hi-visibility vest and vehicle stickers, and we ask our members for an annual donation of £20 to cover the production of membership cards, annual public liability insurance, and expenses incurred in the running of the charity.
Our membership year runs from October to October, so annual donations for persons joining mid year can be made pro-rata.
There are several levels of membership open to all – these are set out as below:
Support Member – any person who wishes to support the group either by helping at events, in the running of the charity or even by being trained to be a controller to dispatch and control resources, talking to user groups as new requests come in, and prioritising our responses to situations as they occur.
Responder – any person who owns, insures and is licensed to drive a 4x4 vehicle, and has passed the initial assessment (this is a simple assessment of your knowledge of your vehicle, equipment, ability and willingness to drive in adverse conditions) – note – Responders are referred to in the application form as ‘operational’ members.
Associate Responder – any responder from another 4x4 Response team who wishes to join our forum and discussions online, and take part in events that we organise (Note – Associate Responder is the only membership level that is free of charge, as we assume that you have paid membership of your parent 4x4 response team).
To apply for membership, please download and print or complete the form below on your computer. It should be posted to the address at the top of the form along with a passport sized photo, and cheque for your membership donation amounts.

Please also find here a form that you can use to notify your insurance company that you intend to carry out voluntary work with your vehicle. Most insurance companies are happy to return this to you stamped and or signed at no cost to yourself.
